Training Tracker Playing Cards

Training Tracker’s CEO Jen Remsik attends the PBExpo, a conference for aviation professionals, yearly. Every year for the past 3 years, Flagrant has designed a set of playing cards for her to give away as a fun conference swag item. This year, the theme we decided to make is a retro hot air balloon theme with influences from circus life!

The design was meant to feel inspired by vintage circus aesthetics as well as old hot air balloon styles. The classic red and white striped curtain, the detailed golden frame, and the details on each of the hot air balloons were all concepted and hand-drawn by our team.

When designing the face cards, we wanted to have each of the royals to have their own style of hot air balloon to reflect their rank and suit. Working with Jen, we found multiple balloon styles that we wanted to incorporate in the designs, and we were able to combine them into unique and exciting designs.

Design of the box and the earliest sketch

The design of the box was the starting point for this project. We wanted to show Tilly, Training Tracker’s mascot, floating away in a vintage hot air balloon. Once this had been sketched, we decided to add a curtain with the iconic circus stripes and a gilded frame to top it off.

The box cover was made to show Tilly, Training Tracker’s mascot, floating along in her hot air balloon. We added a golden border and the classic circus red and white curtain to bring in more of the vintage circus theme.
