Branding redesign, brand asset creation, and website redesign

Contributed Systems is the parent company of both Sidekiq and Faktory, applications used by many Ruby developers across many popular platforms, including Netflix, Adobe, Heroku, and Gusto. As Contributed Systems' reach has grown, finding time to update their website and brand has been a challenge. They approached us to give them a refreshed look and feel. We explored artisanal logos to reflect the craftsmanship of the brand, with a nod to retro computer logos and the history of tech. We landed on a brand that feels both modern and nostalgic, something that encapsulated Contributed Systems as a trustworthy, solid brand with quality products meant to stand the test of time.

    Exploration of Artisanal Direction

When we first kicked off, we discussed how Mike wanted to portray Contributed Systems. We discussed the care and effort he puts into his products and how he wants that care to be reflected in the brand. With craftsmanship at the core, we explored the traditional craftsman’s mark style of branding.

    Exploring a more technical direction

After exploring the direction of craftsmanship and artisans, Mike felt that it did not align with how he envisioned his brand and asked us to pivot to something more technical, reminiscent of early tech. We explored options and found our way to the final logo and brand.

    New branding applied

After creating the brand, it was time to apply it to the website and other assets. We made mockups of what the brand would look like in the real world.
