Tavlin Consulting Logo and Branding

After seeing our work on Ruby Central, RubyConf 2024 and RailsConf 2024, Allison McMillan approached Flagrant for a new logo for her website. She had used AI to create her first draft of her logo, but she wanted a more controlled brand to work with. Tavlin Consulting is an agency that helps facilitate conversations within companies to promote open communication through workshops, off-site retreats, and organizational strategy. The idea of tavlin is from a Hebrew word meaning ‘spices’. This was applied to the brand as a way to show how every team has its own spice and mixture of flavors. Approaching each team as a unique mix allows for better results.

    Logo explorations

We began the design process for this logo by having a discussion with the client and finding out what values, images, and ideas they wanted to portray with this brand. This is some of that initial exploration.

    Exploring variations

Once we landed on a direction (that took some time as we changed directions a few times), we started making smaller choices on the logo, such as height and spacing of elements.

    Final logo and color variations

After getting the final details down, we created multiple color variations for use on dark backgrounds, in single color use cases, and full color.

    Business card mockups

To bring the brand to life in the final presentation, we mocked up the end logo onto some business cards to show how the brand would look in the real world on real products.
